Service Truck Crane

This training program is designed to provide safety training for service truck cranes that do not fall under the provincial apprenticeship program for Cranes and Hoisting Equipment Operator (mobile cranes less than 15 tons/13.6 tonnes. boom trucks less than 5 tons/4.5 tonnes, articulated booms (knuckle booms) up to 7.5 imperial tons without a winch line). Participants will learn and demonstrate the safe operating practices and procedures for the safe operation and inspection of service truck cranes and rigging hardware associated with them.

Required:
• 2 or 4 foot level 
• Class ‘A’ steel toed footwear 
• Hard hat and safety glasses 
• Hearing protection 
• Leather gloves 
• 50 or 100 foot measuring tape 
• Proof of inspection of light duty crane or hoist (must be within the last 12 months) 
• Equipment they operate daily 
• Proof of insurance for the equipment 
• Rigging equipment (slings, shackles, etc) 
• Equipment log book 
• Tire pressure gauge 
• Operator’s manual (for the hoisting device) 
• Cargo tie down equipment 

All equipment must have valid licensing, insurance, annual inspection certificate and be in sound mechanical and structural condition. Equipment that does not meet these requirements will not be allowed for use for the practical training and demonstration portion of class.

Students are required to bring steel toed boots to class.
