« back to classes page

Ensure you and your patients are protected from harmful pathogens with a professionally fitted N95 mask.

N95 mask fit orientation and testing is a pre-requisite for learners attending clinical placements in health studies programs. Fit testing is conducted with the most widely used mask models through Alberta Health Services. Mask fit tests are valid for 2 years.

Private testing sessions are available for learners who prefer not to be tested in a group setting or who require testing outside of scheduled group sessions. Contact us to book a private session: ce@nwpolytech.ca

Preparation

  • Do not apply scented products on the day of the fit test.

  • Do not eat, drink, chew gum or smoke for at least thirty minutes before the scheduled fit test.

  • Learners must be cleanly shaven. Facial hair that prevents direct contact between the face and the sealing surface of the respirator is not permitted.

Failure to follow preparation instructions may result in the learner being refused testing. No refunds will be issued in these circumstances.

Requirements
Must be currently enrolled in an NWP health studies program and preparing for clinical placement.
